I can say that Houston traffic is really hard to get around. Traffic congestion, etc can really make a daily commute a horrible experience. I know that west coast traffic is really bad to but my picture of the week says it all.
So coming home from work one day and I get behind a car that is moving very slow. When the driver finally shifts to the left lane and zooms ahead I realize that it wasn’t HIM who was holding up the traffic. Here is what was in front on me ON THE ROAD!

No pun intended. At least that’s what I’m told you say when you are a cigar smoker.
For the POW this week, I submit a picture of a very long ash from a guest at a major cigar event in Houston.

On my way home, I pass this nursery/garden center that grows a full array of topiaries. You know those fancy garden landscaping things. Mostly seen in movies by Tim Burton and really really wealthy people’s garden. So that is my picture of the week. Enjoy. I took the picture from the car with my iPhone. Not the greatest but not bad for a phone camera.

My first “Picture of the Week” which will be known as POW in the blog. I like the word POW since it refers to action. A heavy blow or a loud explosive noise. It also has a definition of exciting and appealing. I hope that my pictures of the week submissions will meet that expectation.
So without further ado… Picture(s) of the week.
OK, OK, so it’s not just one picture. I couldn’t decide ans had to include both. Enjoy.

I have for many years enjoyed the commitment of many photographers who capture at least one photo every day. In 2009, I would like to do something similar. I cannot commit to the one-a-day photo so I will be capturing and posting at least one photo a week. I will post the photo on Sunday or Monday depending on my schedule.
I may surprise myself and do more than that but I would prefer to accomplish my goals rather than set them beyond attainable. This will allow me to set some themes and hopefully provide you with some interesting posts to read.
Do you have any theme ideas for the pictures? Drop me a comment to help get me started.
